In 2024, China-Vietnam intermodal trains departing from Guangxi transported 19,670 containers of cargo, an increase of 1,153% year-on-year.

According to the China Railway Group Nanning Branch, in 2024, China-Vietnam intermodal trains departing from Guangxi transported 19,670 containers of cargo, an increase of 1,153% year-on-year; in which, March, April, July, October and November set new records for monthly cargo volume five times in a row.

In 2024, the types of goods transported in and out via the China-Vietnam railway initially only included construction materials and light industrial products, and gradually expanded to high-end electronic products, precision machinery and equipment, high-end consumer goods and specialty agricultural products.

The list of transported goods increased to 262 types, with goods coming from 25 provinces and cities across China; the scope of cross-border goods transportation covers many ASEAN countries such as Vietnam, Laos, and Thailand.

Among the goods exported to Vietnam via railway transport nationwide, the proportion of heavy truck and container transport of Nanning International Railway Port reached 68% and 84% respectively, becoming one of the main railway transport hubs of China Railway to Vietnam.

Currently, the China Railway Group Nanning Branch deploys three fixed express trains across the China-Vietnam border each week, ensuring a stable supply of goods to the market. At the same time, the number of trains will be increased based on market demand, and from July 2024, "daily trains" will basically be implemented.

At the same time, the Guangzhou-Nanning (China)-An Yuan (Vietnam) intermodal train was put into operation, opening a new cross-border shipping route for export goods from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Bay area to Vietnam.

Li Na, Sales Director of Nanning Transportation Group Co., Ltd., said that many of the company's goods, such as furniture, household appliances, ceramic tiles, etc., are packed in containers to be transported to Dong Dang and An Vien in Vietnam.

By using the China-Vietnam intermodal freight train, the company has saved a lot of time. Currently, the company's business has expanded from Vietnam to other ASEAN countries such as Cambodia and Thailand./.
