After a period of active implementation, the project of dredging and upgrading Ky Ha fairway by Truong Hai International Forwarding and Shipping Co., Ltd. (THILOGI), a member of Truong Hai Group Joint Stock Company (THACO) in coordination with specialized units, under the direction of the Ministry of Construction and Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee has been officially completed. The project is especially important when contributing to clearing the biggest bottleneck in shipping activities in the Chu Lai area for many years.

According to Mr. Phan Van Ky – Director of Chu Lai International Port, Ky Ha fairway has now reached a depth of -9.3 meters, a fairway bottom width of 110 meters and a total length of 11 km. As a result, Chu Lai port can receive ships with a tonnage of up to 30,000 DWT, meeting the requirements of large-scale international cargo transportation. This is an important foundation to help Chu Lai become one of the main logistics centers of the Central – Central Highlands region.

This project is a testament to THILOGI's methodical and long-term investment strategy in the field of logistics, and at the same time shows the active companionship of the Quang Nam provincial government and functional agencies in the development of key socio-economic infrastructure.

In particular, the completion of Ky Ha channel not only improves the capacity to receive large-tonnage ships, but also opens up great opportunities for Chu Lai Port to directly connect with international shipping routes, no longer dependent on traditional transshipment ports such as Cat Lai (Ho Chi Minh City) or Hai Phong. Thereby, businesses in the Central region will benefit greatly from reducing logistics costs and freight transportation time.

Immediately after the completion of the Ky Ha shipping channel, THILOGI signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Regional Container Lines (RCL – Thailand), officially opening a direct shipping route from Chu Lai Port to major Indian ports such as Kolkata, Kattupalli, Chennai, Nhava Sheva, Cochin and Mundra. This is the first international maritime route departing directly from Central Vietnam to South Asia – a region that has a great demand for importing items such as agricultural products, textiles, electronic components, and mechanical engineering from Vietnam.

Mr. Quek Chun Guan - Regional Director of Southeast Asia of RCL Shipping Line said that the new transport route will help shorten transportation time, reduce logistics costs and open up greater trade opportunities between Vietnamese and Indian businesses. He also believes in the development potential of the region and the cooperation relationship with Chu Lai International Port will be increasingly strong.

The highlight of the Chu Lai – India transport route is that there is no need to transshipment through major ports in the North or South, helping the goods of businesses in the Central region go directly to the world, minimizing risks and related costs for businesses. This is the result of the long-term strategic planning process, along with THILOGI's proactive international connection to complete the package logistics ecosystem including: seaport – transportation – warehousing – import and export – technology logistics.

Promoting the development of the central key economic region

Mr. Le Van Dung - Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee affirmed: This is an important project, demonstrating the determination of THILOGI enterprises in investing in modern seaport infrastructure, helping to increase competitive advantages, promoting a strong breakthrough of Quang Nam's logistics industry. gradually forming an international logistics center, making an important contribution to the socio-economic development of the locality and the region.

In the master plan for the development of Quang Nam province to 2030, with a vision to 2045, Chu Lai Port is identified as a large-scale multimodal logistics center, with a role in connecting the East-West economic corridors, closely linking with the central provinces and expanding to Southern Laos. Northeast Thailand, Northern Cambodia.

With upgraded seaport infrastructure and a modern logistics service system, it is expected that by 2030, the volume of goods through Quang Nam seaport will reach 8.5 – 10.3 million tons/year. This not only promotes the growth of import and export turnover, especially in key industries such as mechanics, electronics, textiles, agricultural products, etc. but also creates momentum to attract investment in the region, forming large-scale production, processing and assembly centers.

On the side of THILOGI, the business continues to promote investment in expanding the fleet of ships and means of transport, upgrading warehouse infrastructure, deploying a smart and environmentally friendly logistics management system. The goal is that by 2030, Chu Lai will become a class I international logistics center, operating according to the integrated model of port - logistics - industry - technology, playing a strategic role in the global supply chain.

Mr. Phan Van Ky affirmed that the investment and upgrading of Ky Ha navigational channel system is a strategic and long-term task to remove infrastructure bottlenecks, gradually develop Chu Lai international port into a grade I port according to the national plan; at the same time, it is an international logistics center, an important import and export hub of the Central region, the Central Highlands...
